Tibbington Consulting Limited has been more than 30 years in the making, with the founder Phil Bellamy gaining both on the job expert experience, academic qualifications and industry accolades along the way.
Beginning his career at DAS legal expenses insurance in 1988, Phil progressed through the ranks from underwriting clerk to group underwriting manager, with ten different underwriting roles in between.
During the same period, Phil achieved the following academic qualifications; Business & Finance BTEC, Cert CII, MSTI, ACII, FCII, AMInstLM and became a Chartered Insurer, and Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
With both in depth BTE (Before the Event) and ATE (After the Event) expert knowledge, Phil has been asked to contribute to various market reports, research documents, and sit on numerous working party groups.
Phil was the key claimant expert witness in the well known Rogers v Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council test case for ATE premium recovery, and has provided many more expert witness statements for other premium challenges along the way.
More recently, Phil has been involved in several litigation funding projects with litigation finance companies as the market really takes off in the UK and abroad, and was also a founding shareholder and Executive Director in a start up Legal Expenses Insurance MGA (Managing General Agent), in which he created and developed much of the infrastructure, documentation, literature, processes & procedures, rules and guidelines that would be needed to start trading.
Phil exited the MGA after two years and a 6x post tax relief return on investment. He continues to invest in Private Limited Companies within the financial services sector, and is especially keen to support new ventures within the legal expenses insurance and MGA space via private equity investments.
